Where Childhood Gets a Little More Room to Grow
There is a lot to love about a preschool where getting dirty is part of the lesson.
Growing Montessori Outdoor School brings Montessori education outside, giving children ages 3–6 the freedom to learn through movement, exploration, practical work, nature, and plenty of hands-on discovery. Instead of asking little kids to spend their days fitting into a traditional classroom, the environment is built around something kids are already incredibly good at: being curious.
The Montessori piece matters here, too. Children are given meaningful choices, encouraged to develop independence, and supported as they learn at their own pace. The goal isn’t just getting kids ready for kindergarten. It’s helping them become capable, confident little humans who know how to think, try, explore, and do things for themselves.
And then they get to do a whole lot of that outside.
A WELL DESERVED SPOTLIGHT
BUILT WITH LOCAL HELP
A beautiful philosophy only works when you have the right people carrying it out.
Growing Montessori has put real thought into the educators behind the school, including bringing longtime Woodland preschool teacher Leslie onto the team.
Leslie already comes with something you can’t manufacture with a brand-new school: years of experience working with young children and the trust of local families who already know the kind of teacher she is.
The team also brings education and training behind the work they’re doing, with Emalee leading the school and Nick helping build and support what Growing Montessori is becoming.
Growing Montessori is also a Launch Woodland partner, which means Woodland Weekender has gotten a little bit of a behind-the-scenes look at what they’re building.
Launch Woodland worked with Growing Montessori on its website, local visibility, digital presence, and some of the systems that help families discover the school and take that first step toward enrollment.
And that’s exactly the kind of partnership we love around here: one Woodland business helping another Woodland organization grow, so more local families can find something good happening right here at home.

Growing Montessori is doing something a little different in Woodland.
They’re taking a respected educational philosophy, combining it with outdoor learning, surrounding kids with experienced people who genuinely care about early childhood, and building it right here in our community.
For Woodland families looking for a preschool experience with more nature, more independence, more hands-on learning, and a whole lot of room to explore, they’re worth knowing about.
Good people building something good for Woodland kids?
Yeah. That’s worth the megaphone.
CURIOUS?
If Montessori is new to you, that’s okay. You don’t have to understand the entire philosophy before deciding whether it might be a good fit for your kid.
Learn about the program, meet the people behind it, ask questions, and see what an outdoor Montessori school actually looks like.
Sometimes the best way to understand a different kind of school is simply to see kids learning in it.

THERE’S USUALLY SOMETHING HAPPENING
Woodland Likes an Excuse to Get Together
Give us a sunny evening, a holiday, a good cause, or apparently just an available parking lot, and somebody around here will turn it into an event. Planters Days owns the beginning of summer. Movies fill the park when the evenings get long. Fall brings pumpkins, markets and Halloween everything. Then come the bazaars, lights and small-town Christmas traditions before we start all over again. In between? Markets, fundraisers, workshops, live music, school events and plenty of reasons to leave the house.
